Nalusuan Island |
||
Nalusuan Island resort is part of Estaca Bay Gardens resort. The cost was around 2200 per night. You can get there only by a banca boat. It is a private island and for the most part you will be alone. During the day there will be some tourists from the city on island hopping tours that will stop by for lunch. But normally after 3 p.m. they are gone and you have the whole island to yourself. The island is only about as big as a football field so there is not many places to go and visit. The snorkeling there is great since it is on a private marine sanctuary. You can rent kayaks, or jet skis. The food was good and the staff of about 10 people who continually live there were friendly and helpful.
At times during lunch or dinner local fisherman would stop by th3e island with fresh fish or lobsters or large prawn shrimps to sell you. They were a little pricey but still cheaper than the u.s. and you are on a secluded island. The sunsets are fantastic. The electricity would only be turned on from 7 p.m. - 8 a.m. since they have to run a generator. The rooms are clean and simple with locally made bamboo furnishings. The huts are on stilts and stand out in the ocean....which is really nice with cool winds blowing into your room and a private balcony overlooking the ocean with great sunrises in the a.m. The mattresses on the beds were comfortable and adequate but the shower was a little cool but since it was hot out once you got in it turned out to be refreshing.
There was no television in your room so bring a crossword or book or cards to keep yourselves busy. There was one t.v. were we ate that every one would gather around in the evening and watch a video that someone might rent from the mainland in cebu. In all it is a nice place to stay for 3 days and 2 nights but longer than that you start running out of things to do. |
