Island of
Bohol

Once arriving in Bohol... you get a bite to eat... find your mode of transportation... and head off for a day of sightseeing... below are some pictures of a few of the wonderful places to see and visit on the island of Bohol.     Enjoy the trip !
The Sandugo was a blood compact performed in native-Bohol style between the traveling Spanish explorer Miguel López de Legazpi and Datu Sikatuna of Bohol on March 16, 1565 in the Philippines to seal their friendship as part of the native custom. The pact was entered into by López de Legazpi for the purpose of insuring friendly relations between the Spaniards and the natives. This is considered as the first international treaty of friendship between two people of different races, a Filipino and a Spaniard. "Sandugo" is a Visayan term meaning "one blood" (san means one, and dugo means blood).
Discreetly located in Dauis, Panglao Island, The Bohol Bee Farm Restaurant is a nature-themed diner almost hidden from the world. It is a beautiful place to go for a walk and relax and to get back to nature.  The food is good and the people friendly.  The gift shop has many items from hand woven malong skirts to snacks to honey papaya soup.  I would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Bohol.
Heading towards Chocolate Hills about 1 mile from the town of Bilar is the Bohol Butterfly Farm called ' simply butterflies '  Look for a nipa hut shelter on right side of road with many large colored flags... walk and follow pathway about 100 feet from road.  farm is nice place to look around and relax.. many different species of butterflies and then afterwards sit down for a snack and drink before heading on to the chocolate hills that are down the same road.
What Bohol is MOST FAMOUS for it's Chocolate Hills.  From Tagbilaran area you may take a taxi or v-hire to take you to the chocolate hills.  During the summer the grass turns brown and looks chocolate in color... During the rainy season they are green as in my pictures.
Legend has it that the hills came into existence from the tale of Arogo, a young and very strong giant who fell in love with an ordinary mortal girl called Aloya. After she died, the giant Arogo cried bitterly. His tears then turned into hills, as a lasting proof of his grief.
The most commonly accept theory is that they are the weathered formations of a kind of marine limestone on top of a impermeable layer of clay. If you climb the 214 steps to the top of the observation hill near the complex, you can read this explanation on a bronze plaque.
??urban legend ??  there used to be 213 steps... but because of valentines day is for lovers.. many couples come here...they add one more step to make it 214... February 14 ( 2-14 )  hmmmmm?
Finally, after being on Bohol for almost a week...it was time to go back home to Mindanao... but above here are a few last pictures of places or things you will want to see while visiting Bohol.. from the old Baclayon Church.. to the famous Tarsiers and if you are adventurous and daring you may walk across the hanging bridge or take a hike down down into the underground hinagdanan caves.... enjoy !!
