Macon, Illinois

Macon is located in the heartland and farmland of Illinois it is an hour from Champaign, Bloomington, Springfield and is about 8 miles south of Decatur, Illinois.  The population as of 2000 census was around 1200 persons.  It is a quite, friendly and sports the "small town" life atmosphere.    There is a 1/4 mile dirt racetrack just outside of town where even today going to the Saturday night races has not changed. Over the years things have changed.. Highway 51 was extended and now goes around the center of town, a new 24 hour P&G gas and food shop has opened and there is even a Dollar General convenient store now.   Below are some picture of Macon taken around June 2008.  Enjoy.
